HALLOWEEN is here!!!

As many of you know, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I don't like the scary parts of it, but enjoy everything else. Here are some weird things I have done to celebrate:

I dressed up as a MAD Scientist!

 Elvis, of course.
Paige, me, and Anna at Paige's wonderful Pumpkin Carving Party!

I went with my friend Terrie. It was a little creepy....

P.S. I don't know these zombies.

C'mon Rangers!

Saturday, 10-22-11 World Series Update:
Watching the World Series. I just can't help myself...I'm a girl who LOVES baseball and the baseball players!!!
I'm rooting for the Rangers this year. If they can make it to the World Series for their 2nd time in a row, they deserve to win...but first they gotta get their act together. Tonight...they let me down... :/ Make it up for me tomorrow, k? ;)

Sunday, 10-23-11 World Series Update:
Rangers, you didn't disappoint me tonight! Now we are 2 for 2. Just two more games to win---I believe in you. :)

Monday, 10-24-11 World Series Update:
We did it again!!!! Just one more game...just one more!!!
I watched the game with Chloe and Erin at a sport's bar with the largest screen ever! I'm so blessed to have girlfriends who LOVE baseball almost as much as I do. ;) haha
Can't wait for Wednesday!!!

Wednesday, 10-26-11 World Series Update:
Here is the update...There is no update! :(
Game 6 has been postponed due to poor weather today...due to RAIN!!! Seriously?!?! So, while sitting in disappointment at work, Erin and I came up with a plan. Here's what we did:

We went to the batting cages to:
1. Unwind.
2. Honor the Rangers.
3. Have fun!

Now we pray the weather is good tomorrow.

P.S. I want to remember this because it makes me laugh. Maybe you, too?

Thursday, 10-27-11 World Series Update:
I thought that this would be the last update.
I thought that the Rangers would win tonight.
I thought that it would be more predictable.
Boy, was I wrong. haha
Let's just say that this was THE most intense game I have ever seen!
Tomorrow I will be screaming, shouting, jumping, cheering, closing my eyes, throwing my arms around, and doing other things more so than I was tonight. ;)
Good night Rangers...I have a headache.

Friday, 10-28-11 World Series GAME 7 Update:
The verdict is in: The St. Louis Cardinals won and you know what? They played a pretty great series. I'm sad, but hey, maybe MY team will get to play next year? A girl can hope. :)

Here's a picture of a pretty great moment from tonight.

Now it's back to reality. ;)

Autumn in Oregon Continues...

I'm going to take a break from writing my thesis today to share some pictures with you of my events from yesterday at Oregon Heritage Farms. It was so fun!
A goat who is showing off his mad balancing skills.

 Elena and I. :)

I decided that I want to have a pumpkin patch when I grow up.
 Adorable decorations and flowers!
I was having trouble finding my way out of the hay maze...
Arrrgh. Happy Halloween!!!

Today I...

Today I...
Read this and liked it.
It's an excerpt from a devotional that I am reading called 90 Days of God's Goodness.

The author says...

My friend told me, years after her trauma:
"I discovered myself in a spirit of entitlement. I learned that
God was not going to go down my checklist of happiness and
fulfill it. I learned what it meant to surrender to his will.
Before, I wanted certain gifts from him. Now I want him.
I have thought, If this was going to happen to someone, it was
better for it to happen to me, with my faith in God, than to
happen to...anyone without Christ. I have come through this
with an absolute confidence in God. I know he will walk with me
through the rest of my life. I have been through the valley of the
shadow of death, and he was with me. Because he's been faithful
in all I've gone through, I have less to be afraid of now."

That's what I read this morning.

Today I...
Went for a walk with some good friends. The rain stopped, the sun poked its head out, and I noticed that the Oregon leaves are changing their color. My favorite time of the year: Autumn!

Today I...
Learned how to make collared greens and tasted them for the first time.

Today I...
Thought collared greens were really good.

Maybe (somewhere deep down) I am southern... A girl can hope... ;)

Good Things...

Some good things this week:
1. Movies.

2. New haircut.

2. Good conversation with my hairdresser. She said that what has helped her make times of grieving easier was helping other people. I agree.

3. Good music. Always good music, like Josh Garrells' song "Farther Along." Here is one of my favorite parts:
Skipping like a calf loosed from its stall
I’m free to love once and for all
And even when I fall I’ll get back up
For the joy that overflows my cup
Heaven filled me with more than enough
Broke down my levee and my bluff
Let the flood wash me

4. Thinking about Halloween. Always good.

5. Thinking about going to New York for Christmas. Yessssss.

The Beginning...

"The Waiting" by Tom Petty has always been one of my favorite songs by him. The chorus inspires me and makes the difficulty about "the waiting" seem normal.

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part...

The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you get one more yard
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part...

See...I've been waiting for a lot of things... some big... some small.
Mostly, I'm just waiting for Jesus to come back. That would fix everything.
Waiting for him is a lot harder than I thought.

This blog has no theme. Just thoughts of mine. Favorites of mine and not-so-favorites of mine.
